That's what I'm waiting for. Unless you just want a ridiculously large TV
I'm not sure there is much value in cramming more pixels into a flat picture. If a 50-to-65-in TV is all you have room for, conventional 1080p HDTV is probably all you will ever need. I could see a 4k, 8k, or 16k TV coming in handy if you want something like a 200-in TV for a full home-theater setup. But that seems like overkill for a typical family room.
To me, the next logical quantum jump in TV technology is a full, 3-D projected hologram picture that you can walk around and maybe even interact with (kinda like Iron Man's Jarvis). Until then, it feels like TV manufacturers are just inventing new things you don't need so people will keep buying new TV's.
